I’ve always felt a deep connection to animals and the people who love them. But living and working in Canberra has taken that passion to a whole new level. The pet-loving community here is absolutely extraordinary, and it inspires me in ways I never expected.
Connecting with Amazing People Through My Pet Photography Business
Every session I get the opportunity to meet incredible people and their pets, to hear their stories and their pet's stories and to preserve the special bond they share. Over the years, I’ve met so many incredible people and their pets and i got to witness the deep connection they share which is just truly incredible.
Whether it’s adventurous pups exploring Canberra’s trails or senior pets snuggling close to their owners, every photo tells a unique story. I love hearing about the journeys of rescue dogs, the joys (and chaos!) of raising puppies, and share the precious and bittersweet moments people cherish with their older pets. These stories stay with me and remind me why I pour my heart and love in what I do.
Some of my clients come back to do a pet photography session with me every year and I get to see and experience their dogs growing with them, going through the happy and joyful moments, but also experiencing the sadness and loss.
I have developed friendship and some of my clients have become lifelong friends, and I get to not only be part of their pet's journeys but also the ups and downs of life.
Some clients return year after year, and it’s a privilege to watch their dogs grow and evolve alongside them. Together, we’ve captured the joy, love, and even the sorrow that comes with saying goodbye—each chapter of their journey preserved in a way that ensures it will never be forgotten.
Hosting Workshops and Photo Walks
Some of my favourite moments come from hosting workshops and photo walks. Last year I hosted 26 workshops, walks and webinars. They’ve been a wonderful way to meet other dog lovers and share my passion for photography. It’s so much fun to see people come together to learn, laugh, and, connect and develop their photography skills.
The energy at these events is always incredible. People bond over their shared love for dogs and photography, swap stories, and support each other as they improve their skills. It’s been heartwarming to see friendships form and create a community at these gatherings.
I can't wait to host more workshops and photo walks, and I'm so excited about my first pet photography retreat I'm running in May this year.
Connecting Online with Dog Lovers and Fellow Photographers
Not only do I get to connect with dog-loving community in Canberra and surrounding regions, but over the last 5 year of growing my business I've been able to connect with others outside of my area.
The Internet has allowed me reach beyond my geographical area and be able to connect and build friendships with others in Australia and all around the world. I've been able to build friendships with pet photographers elsewhere in Australiia but also in New Zealand, the USA, Canada and Europe.
Social media has given me a platform to share the stories behind my photos, collaborate with local pet businesses, and support rescue organisations and pet charities. It’s amazing how a single post can spark conversations, bring people together, or even help a pet find a new home.
What truly sets Canberra’s dog community apart is its generosity. Whether it’s participating in fundraisers, supporting rescues, or simply spreading kindness, the people here are always finding ways to make a difference. That spirit inspires me to give back too, whether through charity photo sessions or shining a spotlight on the incredible pets and people I meet.
If you’d love to celebrate your own special bond with your dog or join one of my workshops, I’d love to hear from you. Reach out to book a session or find out about upcoming events. Let’s create something unforgettable together!
