TAILS OF CANBERRA BOOK

Tails of Canberra showcases dogs photographed by Ina J Photography with the stunning backdrops of Canberra from the National Arboretum to Lake Tuggeranong in the South. A long year project for Ina J Photography this has been her biggest project photographing over 70 dogs for this book.

As part of the Tails of the World series, this photographic coffee table book showcases over 200 stunning full colour photos of dogs of Canberra.

Will my dog be definitely featured in this book?: Yes, if your application is accepted for this book project, you will certainly be included in the book and you will have a beautiful two-portrait feature; however, sessions are strictly limited to 30 dogs and will sell out quickly. If you'd like to jump in and be a part of this one-of-a-kind fundraiser coffee table book, be sure to apply soon! Submitting an application does not guarantee you will be accepted as applicants will be selected based on how well they align with the experience, mission, and my specific vision for this project.
My Dog can't be off leash and there's no way he/she would sit still, can they still be photographed?: Absolutely. Most of the dogs I photograph stay on a lead throughout their entire session. In the final photographs, you won’t see the lead—or the occasional hand or foot or person—because I remove them during post-processing. My camera is also fast enough that your dog doesn’t have to sit still for long. Plus, I have a few tried-and-true tricks to keep their attention. While basic commands can help, they’re by no means essential.

I’ve been a pet photographer for over five years and have worked with all sorts of canine personalities. If your dog has specific behavioural concerns or feels uneasy in new environments or around new people, please let me know. I’ll take extra time to help them feel comfortable with me and my camera, so we can capture their true spirit.
I have more than one dog. Can they all participate in the session?: Absolutely—the more, the merrier! Once your application is accepted, simply let me know how many pups you’d like to include and we’ll upgrade to an extended session. This allows time for individual portraits and group shots, as well as photos with you so you can have beautiful artwork featuring all of your beloved dogs.
Can I be in the photos with my dog(s) as well?: Of course! If you’d like to be photographed alongside your dog(s), you can upgrade to the extended session option to allow extra time for these portraits. While photos that include humans won’t appear in the book, this is the perfect opportunity to capture beautiful images celebrating your bond—ones that go far beyond the usual awkward selfies!
What if the weather doesn’t cooperate on the day of my session?: No worries! If the forecast calls for heavy rain or extreme weather, we’ll simply reschedule your session at no extra cost. I want you and your dog to have the best experience possible, so we’ll keep an eye on the forecast and choose a day that works for everyone.
What if I just want my dog featured in the book, without purchasing any artwork?: Tails of Canberra, Volume 2 is all about celebrating the love we share with our dogs—both in the book and through beautiful artwork you can cherish at home. While being featured in the book is exciting, this project is best suited for those who also value owning professional portraits of their pet. If you’re only interested in a spot in the book and don’t plan on purchasing artwork, this may not be the right fit for you. We aim to create a complete experience, from capturing your dog’s unique personality to providing you with artwork to enjoy for years to come.
