My pet photography business all started because of the loss of my heart dog Mac, who passed away at only 9 years old, too soon due to heart failure. As much as we would like our pets to live forever, unfortunately, they don't. Some leave us earlier than they should.
When the time comes to say goodbye, it can be one of the hardest things we ever have to do. But we can honour our pets and the memories we have with them by creating beautiful and meaningful photos that we can treasure forever. This is why I do what I do. Mac has inspired me to help other pet parents to ensure they have beautiful memories and moments of their dogs and pets captured to treasure forever.
Even with Mac, I made sure I had professional photographs done as I didn't have many photos of him and me together.
I always keep a slot free every week for emergency sessions and end of life pet photography session which I call our Golden Moments sessions. However, I always say to my clients, please DON'T WAIT! Tomorrow is never guaranteed, book in for a pet photography session and capture photographs of your dog when they are happy, joyful, not near the end.
WHAT TO EXPECT AT A GOLDEN MOMENT SESSION
End-of-life pet photography sessions or golden moment sessions are a way to capture the essence of our beloved pets in their final days or weeks. These sessions are designed to be gentle, compassionate, and respectful, giving your pet the love and attention they deserve in their final days.
These can be done in my studio, at your home or we can go to their favourite park or another location of your choice. We'll talk about these options at the planning appointment. I’ll also ask about any possible limitations your pet may have to identify where the session should take place. Your pet's comfort is at the utmost importance here.
It's okay to feel all the emotions. There are joy and sadness in end of life pet photography session. We'll celebrate the life of your pet by capturing these memories that you can treasure forever
Although it may not feel that way, these images will become more important with time. As hard as it may be to look at them after a pet has passed, it's important to have these images. I always find myself smiling when I see Mac's photos on the wall and remember all the good times we had together.
