PERSONALISING YOUR PET PHOTOGRAPHY EXPERIENCE
Where do I start when booking a professional pet photography session? This might be a thought that comes to your head when you are looking for a pet photographer.
This is understandable as booking a professional pet photography session isn't something you do everyday. Each pet photography experience is different and personalised to each client. I want to step you through the inquiry and consultation process of your pet photography experience.
The first thing to think about before choosing your pet photographer is why you want to get a professional portrait of your furry best friend. For example you want to document their life during the growing stage from a small puppy to a fully grown pup or your dog may be getting old and you want to capture the memories of their golden years. You want to be able to find someone who is able to bring out the personality and character of your pup and get the photos that you want. You also want to think about what you want to do with them. Do you want a beautiful printed artwork of the photos or do you want just digital files? This is why the inquiry process is important.
The inquiry process is a way for you to get to know me and for me to get to know you and find out if I am the best photographer for you and your pet. The best way to contact me is through completing my contact form. Feel free to ask me as many questions as you'd like.
Some common questions that I get is: My dog isn't well behaved, do you think you can take a good photo of him? Or, my dog is not good off leash, how can you get a photo of him without the lead? Well don't you worry, most of the dogs I photographed are on lead and they're not always 100% well behaved. I have lots of tricks and I also have the help of Photoshop magic. You can see some of the frequently asked questions on the bottom of the Session Information page on my website.
Alternatively you can also book in a no-obligation consultation call with me - this is similar to the pre-consultation call that I'll talk about below, but I will also use this call to see if I'm the best photographer for you and your pet. Should you decide that we're not a good match, no worries, there is no obligation to proceed further. I want you to be happy with your choice.
After we determine that we're a good match, I'll schedule you for your session. I'll also book you in for your pre-session consultation call.
This call allows me to talk with you over the phone or via Zoom and get to know you and your pet more. I will probably be asking quite a lot of questions about your pet as this will help me bring out his or her personality and character. It will also help me plan and design your session and also recommend locations which are suited for your pet. You may have a pet that gets distracted easily or get quite anxious around lots of people or crowds. I would then recommend suitable location so that your pet is comfortable and happy during the session.
If you haven't thought about it yet, on this call I also want to find out about what you want to do with your images and how you want to display them. I specialise in creating beautiful printed products to memorialise your pet whether it's a beautiful hero piece wall art or a keepsake album. I also have digital files but I believe in the value of printed products and giving you something that you can proudly display in your home. This way you can see it everyday and smile every time you see the photo of your pet on your wall, rather than having to scroll through your phone or computer to find the photo buried in the hundred and thousands of photos you have in there.
At the end of this consultation process, you're ready for the fun part, the session! I'll keep in touch with you by email and you'll get a reminder as well as a call and be prepared to have fun with your pet at the session!
So if you'd like to personalise your pet photography experience contact me using the button below or book a call with me!
This post is a part of the Pet Photographers blog circle I am in. This week we talk about our inquiry and consultation process and Holly of Holly Cook Photography, in Seattle, explains her inquiry process and how easy it is to work with her.

Elaine - All great thoughts for clients to consider! Like you, the conversation about "end-results" is high on my agenda, and often dictates the type of session I recommend.

Linda Perdue - Great information! I think having a no cost, no obligation consultation is a great point. The inquiry process, or making that first call is probably the hardest part for many people (except maybe picking the best photos!)
