In these days an age with smart phones having great cameras and that it's so easy to snap a photo with your phone, our photos have in a way become disposable. You'll take tons of snaps and all of a sudden your camera roll is just filled with thousands and thousands of snaps you've taken. It's so hard to sometimes find a specific photo. Because of this we are not taking time to appreciate the photos we have taken. It is common for some clients to just say I want the digitals but I always like to ask about how you'd like to display your images.
If you have had a pet photography experience with me then you'll know one of the questions I ask at our pre-session consultation call is "Have you given a thought how you would like to display the images from your session?". This is an important question as it will help me plan out your session depending on how you'd like to display your images. I'd like to start with the end in mind so I make sure to capture the images on the types of portraits I capture at your session.
Digital images are great but they are just one part that make up your finished pet portrait. Every image that you order will be carefully retouched and edited including removals of leash or distractions and they are colour adjusted on my calibrated monitor to ensure they come out in prints with the right colours. I want each and every one of my client to come out of their pet photography experience with me with a beautiful physical product that they can display in their home and bring a smile to their face every time they see it.
So, which product is right for you?
Sometimes when I ask a client how they want to display their images they are not sure. Well, you don't need to worry because I can help you to choose the right products to display the images from your session. Some questions I'd like to ask my clients are:
- Do you want something for the wall or something for your table or desk?
- Do you love a hero wall art piece or a collection of wall arts?
- How important is it that you get all the images from your session?
There are many options available to you depending on how you want to display your images.
WALL ARTS
Having a wall art hung up on your home of your pet will make your home feel like your home. Every time you see your wall art it will bring a smile to your face.
One of the main concerns some clients have is that they do not have a space for wall arts and sometimes this leads them to purchasing a smaller size wall art or not going for wall art at all. I always say there's always space in your wall for wall art!!
There are different options that you can choose whether it's displaying a single Hero wall art piece or a collection of wall gallery. If you're choosing a hero wall art piece I always say to go big. Some clients think that the larger size wall art might be too big, but sometimes if you get one that is too small it will look out-of-scale so I always so go the bigger size. In saying that I always ask my clients to come prepared to their ordering appointment with measurements of their wall and photos so that I can project your images on your wall and you can see how it looks with different sizes.
A wall art gallery is also stunning and can add a wonderful personalised touch to your home! You can never have enough photos of your pets! You can also add in photos of you and your pet (or the whole family photo) within the wall gallery collection. The plus side is that you also get all the corresponding digital files with your wall art gallery.
ALBUMS
I find many of my clients love all their photos from their session. I try to show my clients around 50 images from their session so they have a variety to choose from and I do find some clients struggle to reduce this to less than 20 images. If it is important that you have all your favourite images from your session then the Keepsake album or the portrait album is perfect for you. This is a great choice too if you don't want something for the wall or you don't have the wall space in your house for wall arts.
The great thing about the albums is that you get at least 20 images from your session. The images in the album are printed on archival inks so they'll be sure to last a very long time. Plus you'll also get the 20+ corresponding digital images in the album so you can share them online with your friends and family,
Keepsake portrait box and Fine art matted prints
The Keepsake portrait Box is another great way to display your image. It can store 10 fine art matted 8 inch by 10 inch prints. They are printed on fine art cotton paper and mounted on a white matte board. You can get a timber portrait box with clear acrylics on each side which can act as a frame and you can rotate the prints in the box based on what you love that day! You can also get a fabric portrait box with a photo cover that stores and keeps your fine art prints safe and protected.
Alternative you can also get a set of three or five 8 inch by 10 inch fine art matted prints. You can then easily put this into an 11 inch by 14 inch frame that you can get from your local frame store or even IKEA.

Angela Schneider - That keepsake box is gorgeous! I am the type to need big badass portraits on my wall, though. Those are much better than digital files that disappear on a Facebook page.
