You might have been thinking of getting some professional photography done for your pet, or you might not have heard of professional pet photography. That's okay, as some people I've met are surprised when I say I'm a pet photographer. They go "Wait, so you only photograph pets??".
Regardless which stage you are in, there are great reasons why you'd like to book in for a professional pet photography session. These are some of the top reasons why my clients come to me for a pet photography session.
3 REASONS TO GET PROFESSIONAL PHOTOS OF YOUR PET
1. MY PET WON'T SIT OR STAY STILL
This is the most common reason why my clients come to me. Everytime you try to take a photo of your dog/cat/rabbit/name your pet they just move. Just as I'm about to take the shot, they turn around, move their head, just leave or all I get are blurry images of them! That's okay, I know how you feel! Some clients even say, I'm not sure if you can get a good photo of my dog, I've tried so many time!
Well, you don't need to worry. I'll be able to get the photographs that you can't. I've photographed hundreds of dogs and have worked with various dogs (and cats) with different behaviours. Plus, I don't really need your pet to stay still. Part of the experience will be running around like crazy or just chilling on a bench or under the shades. My camera is fast enough to capture shots of your pets so I really only need them to sit or stay just for a split few seconds. We won't be sitting or staying in one spot for long as there'll be lots of wandering around ad exploring. Each photography session is more like a play date with your pet. You get to enjoy and have fun together with your pet while I capture all these beautiful memories and moments.
2. YOUR PET WON'T BE AROUND FOREVER
This is the sad reality and as much as I hate to say it, those of you that have owned pets know they don't live as long as us and don't stay around forever. I know this from experience as I lost my dog Mac when he was only 9 years old due to heart failure.
Some of my clients come to me because their dog has gotten older or gotten sick. They are difficult sessions for both my clients and I but having these memories and moments captured are priceless and you'll always remember them even long after they're no longer with us. I always look at the prints and wall arts of my dog Mac and Jaffa on the wall and although it's sad that they're gone, I smile when I see them as it reminds me of the good times I had with them and the love they gave me. Having these wall arts and keepsakes of them keeps them in my life and memories forever while they are no longer here physically.
It is hard, but I do recommend that you think about doing a pet photography session before your pet gets too old and frail. it can be once in a life time thing where you just want to get professional photos of your pets once, but you also have the option of coming back a few times to document memories throughout their life. Did you know that after you have a session with me, your future sessions are free? You'll only need to pay for the prints and artworks you'd like to order.
So, think about how you want to remember and memorialise your pet before it's too late.
3. YOUR PET IS PART OF THE FAMILY
My dogs are a big part of my life. They are my family, my best friends and my confidants. People invest in a portrait session with their families. Your pets are family too, so why not honour your pet with a professional pet photography session too? I'll not only capture your pet's personality, cute poses and expression but also shots with you in it. A lot of the times we take photos of our pets but we're not in the picture. I can capture photos of you and your pet as a family. It's nice to have these memories showing the connection, love and bond with your pets captured.
What if I don't like my photo to be taken or I hate being in front of the camera?
That's okay, there are ways for you to be in the photo in a way that you feel comfortable. Here are some fun ideas.
- having them looking over your shoulder
- having you in the background and out of focus
- we can capture a photo with your dog at your feel (bring some fun shoes if you want to get some of these shots).
However, it is your decision if you want to be in the photos too. I do suggest that we do capture a few shots of you and your pet.
There are more reasons I can list but these are some of the popular reasons why my clients hire me. Plus, by hiring me to take professional photos of your pet, you get to relax and enjoy the experience too. And of course, you still want and can take your own photo but when you do a pet photography session with me, I'll not only take photos but we will create art and important keepsakes.
